You have color numbers on the side of the fabric so you can see which beads should sit on the respective number/letter. Put some wax on the top of the pen so you can easily lift the beads. The pearls settle on the right side when you gently shake the pearl bowl. Then place the bead on the fabric where the correct color number is, you don't need to press hard. The fabric has an adhesive that the beads stick to, just peel off as much protective plastic as you need to access where you will put the beads. Do not withdraw more than you need.
